Unforgettable summer holiday activities for 5-14 year olds

About Us

Every day an adventure

Whatever your child's interests, he or she will have amazing fun at Blunts Barn Activities. We have a huge range of activities to suit everyone. Whether it's  chilling in the swimming pool, cooking up a crispy cake creation, roasting dampers over your own camp fire, creating an artistic masterpiece worthy of the Tate, firing an arrow just like Robin Hood, shooting down the Slippery Slide, conquering our bike obstacle course or building your own QE2 (or perhaps Titanic!), we really do have something for everyone.

Try it for a day, a week or come for the whole two weeks; we know they'll have so much fun they'll want to come back for more!

Children love, parents trust

Set in a beautiful New Forest location, in the heart of the National Park, we make full use of our wonderful surroundings. We are passionate about ensuring quality, safe, and most importantly, fun activities for every child who spends time at Blunts Barn Activities. When you send your child to us, you can rest assured that not only are they having a brilliant time, but that they are also being cared for by highly experienced, qualified staff. All group leaders are DBS checked (formally CRB) and hold relevant qualications for the specialist activities they run, including first aid. We'll send your children home happy, proud of what they've achieved that day and ready for a full night's sleep!

The kids are on the go all day and love everything they do.

These are just some of the activities we offer. On each day we run a set programme of activities, designed to give your child a range of different experiences across the day. There is often a degree of choice offered for some of the sessions (we call this ‘bases’). For an example programme, please click below:

If there is a particular activity your child really doesn’t want to miss, please let us know in advance so that we can suggest the best day(s) for your child to attend. As much as possible we accommodate such requests, though some of our activities are weather dependent so sometimes the programme has to change at short notice. In order to enjoy all the activities on offer, we advise that your child attends for a full week.

FAQs

A. Your child needs to bring:
  • Clothes that are appropriate to the weather and that you/they don't mind getting dirty or wet.
  • Sensible footwear for a range of activities - trainers are best. If it's wet, they may like to bring wellies too.
  • A complete spare change of clothes (socks, shoes, underwear, the lot!).
  • A waterproof coat with a hood if possible.
  • Swimming costume/trunks and a towel (and armbands if required)
  • Suncream and sun hat.
  • Packed lunch and up to 2 snacks (for the morning and afternoon breaks).
  • A drinks bottle - water is always available for refills but you may like to bring squash/ juice for lunch. No fizzy drinks please.
  • A bicycle in good working order and a helmet if your child wishes to cycle. Without a helmet, your child will be unable to cycle.
  • No electronic equipment (including mobile phones) please!
*Please make sure all clothing and items are named. We inevitably end up with a mountain of lost property and you stand a chance of getting it back if you have names attached/inside.*
A. Every day is different! However, a typical day looks something like the following:

9am Arrival & registration - please bring your child to reception to register for the day
Activity 1
Break (20 mins)
Activity 2
Lunch (1 hour)
Activity 3
Break (20 mins)
Activity 4 (usually a choice of swimming / slippy slide + a dry activity).
4pm Home time - please ensure you sign your child out at reception before leaving the site

However, on some days we run longer activities (e.g. boat race), in which case the programme is adapted slightly - if there is a particular activity that your child doesn't want to miss, please let us know so that we can suggest the best day(s) for your child to attend.
A. Each day we run a set programme of activites, designed to give your child a range of different experiences whichever day(s) they attend. Within the daily programme there is often a degree of choice offered for some of the sessions, but not every activity runs every day. If there is a particular activity your child really doesn't want to miss, please let us know in advance so that we can suggest the best day(s) for your child to attend. In order to enjoy every single activity, we advise that your child attends for a full week.
A. Yes, they need to bring a packed lunch and a refillable water bottle (we provide drinking water throughout the day). They may also like to bring up to 2 snacks (for morning & afternoon breaks) and a soft drink e.g. squash, juice. No fizzy drinks please.
A. Through the information you provide on the booking form, we ensure all pool staff know our non and weak swimmers. All children will only be allowed in the pool & pool area when a lifeguard is present. If your child usually swims with arm bands, please ensure they bring them to the activities.
A. Please note this down on the booking form when you complete it. Our leaders have experience of working with children with a range of medical conditions and special needs. If you have specific queries then please do contact us to chat them through. If your child needs a carer with them to access our activities then the costs of 1:1 support can often be covered through the Hampshire Gateway Card scheme - for more about this please visit the Hampshire Gateway Scheme website.
A. For some activities your child will be taken off site. We have a policy in place for signing children in and out. They will never be allowed off site on their own or without the appropriate numbers of qualified leaders present. Please ask us if you would like to find out more.
A. Children are usually grouped according to age. Please note any grouping requests down on your booking forms and we will do our best to accommodate them.
